| The River Tweed is a special place which provides everyone with the opportunity to share some truly magnificent fishing in an equally magnificent environment.
It also brings people together from all walks of life, that would otherwise never meet. It's truly amazing how friendships are formed after a only brief meet on the river with a single shared goal, and that can often last a lifetime.
However the key to a great day out for all is a knowledge and respect of a few simple rules:
- ALWAYS shut gates behind you - Even if it was open when you found it.
- ALWAYS take all liter home with you.
- Please be careful where you park your car. Tweedswood is fortunate in having great vehicular access to the water and is well served with convenient car parking, including that at the fishing hut. NEVER park in front of gates or other places of access.
- While Fishing NEVER go in below a angler coming down a pool. Always go in from above.
- NEVER crowd a fellow angler ! It's bad manners, dangerous and unnecessary
- If asked to finish fishing at a certain beat at a certain time, please observe these times.
- Any coloured or large hen salmon are the future of our sport, so please endeavour to return them safely to the water at all cost. If badly hooked, simply cut the line off as near to the mouth as possible leaving the hook inside. The digestive juices will soon break the hook or fly down, giving the fish every chance to carry on up stream and spawn.
- Tweedswood is a Spring conservation minded beat, and works on a very strict, "First salmon back - Second you keep" basis throughout the Spring. In this way, we keep the natural balance of the river and ensure sport for the next Spring.
Just a few simple, common sense points that will make your visit to Tweedswood a pleasure for you and your fellow anglers.
